I'm obsessed with all the new lovely Coneflower (Echinacea spp.) varieties on the market these days. I wrote a feature on them this spring for Neil Sperry's Gardens magazine and have planted many in my own garden. Here are a couple of my favorites in bloom right now...
Echinacea 'Secret Lust' - a lovely pom pom bloom with peach to pink blooms
Echinacea 'Tangerine Dream' Large orange blooms with burgundy center

Laura - Echinacea are super easy to grow. The one thing they don't like are wet feet, meaning they prefer good drainage and don't do well in beds that receive too much moisture or don't drain well. Of course new plantings will need extra water, especially this time of year. But once established they are drought tolerant and very tough summer bloomers.

I'm such a fan of orange, peach and coral color flowers...most of the new ones fall into this range. Perfect companions for all my peach colored roses!
